When you think of marijuana or other types of drugs, you will instantly think they are bad for you. But little did you know, there are certain drugs that could help cure several diseases. Over the past few years, there hasn’t been any clear information on whether certain drugs are suitable for medicinal purposes, or simply bad for the human body and mind. Take marijuana as an example, despite having various hemp guides stating the various health benefits of marijuana, people are still sceptical about it. The reason why some drugs are illegal or banned in certain countries is due to the fact that there are people who misuse these drugs and overdose on them. Even worse, they will use these drugs as a form of self-harm or abuse, which is why countries are trying to stop people like them by placing a ban. Without further ado, here are 4 most common illegal drugs that are banned, but could be useful for medicinal purposes:
1. Ketamine

What would ketamine be good for? Bipolar disorder. Ketamine isn’t exactly a banned drug, but it is heavily regulated and used as a sedative. During research, it was found that ketamine was used as a treatment for children with bipolar disorder. Usually, the medication used for bipolar disorder takes several days to take effect. However, studies have shown ketamine gets absolved into the bloodstream way faster than the other regular medication. Most bipolar disorder patients tend to show difficulty in getting the right drugs for them to be treated. Through their intensive research, children that were treated with ketamine showed a much faster improvement compared to the ones without ketamine. However, it only lasted for a few weeks once the treatment of ketamine was halted. When the children took ketamine, the side effects didn’t appear to be too bad as well. After the children got familiar with the drug, there were no side effects whatsoever.
Bipolar disorder isn’t the only disease that ketamine could help with. Studies have also shown how ketamine helps to cure patients suffering from chronic depression. With ketamine, the patient’s brain synapses will grow in order to make room for chemical signals to pass more effectively. In return, this will help a person to be a better person than reacts to the world.
2. Magic Mushrooms

Magic Mushrooms could bring a spiritual experience for those who are on the brink of death. Dr Stan Grof did a study where just before cancer patients die, they endure great depression, anxiety and fear. To reduce these symptoms, with just one dose, the patients were able to have a change of mindset by learning to accept their fate in a calm manner. He also mentioned how the patients no longer had fear of dying with lesser anxiety.
Aside from curing anxiety for cancer patients, in another case study, when alcoholics consumed the magic mushrooms, they had a change of mindset as well. They no longer want to continue drinking their life away and have the drive to quit smoking.
3. MDMA

Also known as ecstasy or ‘disco biscuits’, this drug provides a safe feeling to those that consume it. There are many medications or different types of treatment for patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), not all of them work well for some. The selected few will have a bad reaction towards some of these common medications. Then comes MDMA, an add-on to their therapy sessions. When patients consume MDMA, it provides a feeling where they will feel that even though the journey to recovery is difficult, they are still able to get through it. There has been a case where a patient managed to be instantly cured after one dose of MDMA. MDMA could help those in the army, especially after they end their war and come back with signs of intense PTSD.
4. Heroin

The all-too-famous drug, heroin is more commonly used to help those addicted to opiates, which are painkillers such as Percocet, Vicodin and Demerol. With the help of heroin, they are able to cure their addiction by consuming small amounts of heroin daily. Within a couple of treatments with heroin, opiate addicts are able to stop taking other drugs. It is also commonly used in hospitals to handle pain management. Dr Torsten passie also mentioned how he hopes everyone will have a different mindset upon heroin users. Most of the time, they will get thrown in jail instead of offering treatment and medication to help cure their symptoms.
