To convert a time with decimal values, multiply
the decimal value times 60. For example .5 hours is
30 minutes.
0.5 hours x 60 = 30 minutes
Example
Doctor Smith has ordered 1liter .9% NS IV at 400 cc/hr
on John Doe in bed 7. After the .9% NS has infused,
notify the doctor of the patient's blood pressure.
How long will it take for the .9% NS to infuse? Plug
in the numbers into the calculator as shown below.
After 2.5 (2hrs and 30min) hours, the .9%
NS will have infused.
